Zen Shiatsu

Zen Shiatsu is a massage modality originating in Japan. It differs from other forms of shiatsu by combining the principles of oriental medicine, acupressure, yoga and meditation to bring the body back in balance and harmony. The Zen Shiatsu practitioner uses acupressure along the same meridians (pathways) used for acupuncture. Because of the way Zen Shiatsu works on the parasympathetic nervous system, its application works for physical, emotional and spiritual disorders. It is particularly effective in the treatment of:

  • Chronic stress.
  • Anxiety.
  • Insomnia.
  • Acute and chronic muskuloskeletal pain (e.g. from motor vehicle accidents).
  • GI tract issues, including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
