I recently found a notecard I really like. It sums up what I love and find important about the concept of community. Here is a link to the site so you can see it and purchase it if you, too, find it inspiring.
The following are organizations to which I have contributed to as a volunteer or student volunteer since I came to United States 13 years ago.
Pittsburgh Hospice
I volunteered as a massage therapist for terminally ill patients. I also developed and managed a program for hospice volunteers called "Hand Massage-Hand Meditation". This program is still available. If you would like more information, please contact me.
Baltimore Men's Detention Center
I worked at the detention center for two years as a part of my student community work while studying at the Traditional Acupuncture Institute. I treated inmates for detox using ear acupuncture.
Penn North Community Health Initiative in Baltimore
I volunteered as a massage therapist to HIV patients and provided ear acupuncture in a communal setting to patients going through drug rehabilitation.
Outside In
Currently I am providing Chinese medicine acupuncture at the Outside In clinic.
